'This is why I'm here' – Haaland bullish after first Premier League hat-trick sinks Crystal Palace

The Norwegian striker was on target three times for Pep Guardiola’s side on Saturday afternoon as the Citizens secured a comeback against Crystal Palace at the Etihad Stadium.

Haaland’s second-half hat-trick propelled Manchester City to a 4-2 victory over Patrick Vieira’s Palace side who had gone 2-0 up in the first half.

Bernardo Silva kicked off the comeback by halving the deficit in the 53rd minute before Haaland took over to score three goals (62′, 70′, 81′) in 19 minutes to give City the win.

In his post-match comments, Haaland stated that it was for matches such as this that Manchester City signed him from Borussia Dortmund to score goals.

In a video posted on the Manchester City official Twitter handle, Haaland said: “Hey guys, really good feeling playing at the Etihad and scoring my first hat-trick for City.”

“These games, that is why I am here. To turn it around when there are difficult times. It is a good feeling,” the City striker continued.

Phil Foden assisted Haaland’s first goal on the day which the Norwegian striker was excited about, stating that the City team cares less about who scores or assists but more about getting the victory.

“Finally Phil played the ball to me. It’s a really good feeling, this. We played for each other, we played together and that’s really good. We don’t care who scores, it’s about winning and the winning mentality,” Haaland quipped.

Haaland’s hat-trick against Crystal Palace has shot the 22-year-old to the top of the Premier League goalscorers table with six (6) goals and one (1) assist in just four Premier League matches so far.

Manchester City will be in action again on Wednesday, August 31st when they host Taiwo Awoniyi’s Nottingham Forest for their Matchday 5 Premier League fixture at the Etihad Stadium.
