I worked for big oil but only invest green

For decades, Jeffrey Rogers was “paid very handsomely” for his work in the oil and gas industry, travelling the world, overseeing the wiring of drilling rigs and production platforms in places as far flung as Russia, Azerbaijan, Norway and Switzerland.

“I had fun every single day,” Rogers, now 67, said. “I don’t regret a moment of it.”

Whenever questions about working for oil companies were broached, he brushed them off. “For most of my career if you’d asked why I was in the oil and gas business, apart from making money, I’d say, ‘We’re chasing peak oil. The world needs more oil and that has been true for quite some time.’ ”
