Zhuhai to invest US$44 million in technical skills training plan

The neighbouring Zhuhai city has rolled out a plan allocating some RMB300 million (US$44 million) to improve the technical skills of local industrial workers and employees of small and medium-sized enterprises.

A three-year action plan (2022-24) released by the Municipal Human Resources & Social Security Bureau is part of the city’s efforts to further implement its “industry first” development strategy and help formulate an industrial worker team, China Daily reported.

Until 2024, the city is set to hold more than faculty training events and over 1,000 on-site demonstrative training activities in enterprises reaching over 1 million industrial workers.

In 2022 alone, Training for 300,000 workers will be organized.

The plan also includes training on safety production, fire control, the prevention and mitigation of natural disasters, policy promotion, as well as professional skills in online and on-site events.

The document outlined that each employee of Zhuhai enterprises can receive a subsidy of RMB300 (US$44) for precise self-training, while enterprises can receive up to RMB300,000 (US$43,785) in subsidies.
