At the HDFC Mutual Fund presents Moneycontrol Mutual Fund Summit 2025- Bengaluru edition powered by Axis Mutual Fund, industry stalwarts came together to discuss how India’s financial aspirations are changing through GIFT City. The panel comprising Vaibhav Shah Head – Products, Business Strategy & International Business, Mirae Asset Investment Managers, India, Abhishek Tiwari, CEO, PGIM India MF and Neil Parikh, CEO, PPFAS, explored and navigated the ways in which GIFT City is opening up new doors for Indian investors to go global.
Earlier designed to attract foreign investments, GIFT City has now become the gateway for Indian investors to access international opportunities. Sharing his thoughts on the same, Vaibhav Shah signified GIFT City as a real “bridge to the world,” allowing exposure to global themes such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and digital infrastructure, areas that Indian investors previously had limited access to.
However, this doesn’t stop here. This transformation is also influencing investor behaviour. According to Abhishek Tiwari, the traditional preference for domestic investments among Indian investors is declining. “There is a clear shift in mind-set as investors are increasingly looking for diversification and global exposure,” he said, pointing out that investors are becoming more comfortable with global funds and products being introduced through GIFT City.
Further, adding to the discussion, Neil Parikh also shared insights on how global investing helps in balancing risk and reward. As per him, investments across different currencies and regions can protect portfolios and improve long-term returns. Vaibhav Shah also added that favourable currency movements could potentially give Indian investors an extra 2-3% benefit.
The Bengaluru edition of the Moneycontrol Mutual Fund Summit 2025 clearly showed that GIFT City is not just a financial centre, but a key driver in shaping India’s future in global investments.
