BRANSON, Mo. (KY3) – Branson R-IV School District Superintendent Dr. Brad Swofford announced his retirement plans. Dr. Swofford will step down on June 30.
“I have always considered public education to be a calling,” said Dr. Swofford. “It has been an honor to be a part of Branson Schools over the last 30 years. I am grateful to each of the board members I’ve had the opportunity to work with, our staff, our students, and our supportive Branson community.”
Dr. Swofford has spent his entire career in the Branson School District since 1995, when he was hired as a history teacher and coach, followed by an assistant principal and then principal at Branson Junior High. He advanced to assistant superintendent in 2009 and stepped into the role of superintendent in January 2016. Under his leadership, the district saw improvements in teacher recruitment and retention, advanced facilities, and mission-focused student success.
“The Board of Education is incredibly thankful for Dr. Swofford’s leadership and dedication,” said Branson School District Board President Sonja Myer. “The spirit of collaboration in which Dr. Swofford has served will leave a lasting legacy in the district and the community. We are committed to ensuring the continued success of Branson Public Schools throughout the transition of the next superintendent.”
The Board of Education accepted Dr. Swofford’s resignation during an executive session of the January 6 board meeting.
