The Australian economy will be a net beneficiary of US President Donald Trump’s sweeping tariff regime, according to new research from EY Oceania that predicts the shake-up in the global trading system will spur extra investment and help local businesses export more globally.
Since April, Trump has unveiled sweeping tariffs in an attempt to close the US trade deficit and revive American manufacturing, causing widespread uncertainty among businesses and raising expectations of a pick-up in global inflation.
